SHOPIFY B2B DEVELOPMENT, EXPLAINED
What is Shopify B2B development?
Shopify B2B development is setting up and extending Shopify's native B2B features so business buyers can order online. It covers company accounts, catalogues with customer-specific prices, quantity rules and payment terms, plus the quick order forms, buyer portals and ERP integrations that fit how your sales team already works.
B2B ecommerce development is different from a consumer store. Buyers reorder the same products, order by SKU and case pack, expect their own price and pay on account. BRISTM plans accounts, pricing and data flows first, then builds on Shopify or Shopify Plus. Moving off Magento B2B, a legacy portal or an ordering spreadsheet? Our Shopify migration team moves companies, prices and order history too.
Your trade customers order online, at their price, on their terms.
COMMON B2B ORDERING PROBLEMS
Your trade customers shouldn't have to email their orders in.
Most B2B brands still take orders by email, phone and spreadsheet, then key them into the ERP by hand. It is slow for buyers, error-prone for your team and hard to scale. Shopify B2B gives buyers a self-serve way to order.
-
Orders arrive by email, phone and spreadsheet
We give buyers a quick order form and one-click reorder, so orders land in Shopify with the right SKUs and quantities.
-
Customer-specific prices live in a spreadsheet
We build Shopify B2B catalogues and price lists per company or location, with volume pricing and quantity rules applied automatically.
-
Stock and prices drift out of sync with the ERP
We connect Shopify to your ERP, so stock, prices, companies and orders sync on a schedule you control.
-
Credit terms and invoices sit outside the store
We set net terms per company location, capture PO numbers at checkout and show open invoices in the buyer's account.
-
An old B2B portal that buyers avoid
We replace dated portals with a Shopify B2B storefront that is fast on mobile and simple for your team to update.

HOW WE BUILD SHOPIFY B2B
Our Shopify B2B process, planned around your data.
B2B projects succeed or fail on pricing rules and data. We map both before we design a single page, and we test with a handful of real buyers before every account moves over.
-
01. Discovery & ordering audit
Learning how your buyers order today.
We review order channels, account types, price rules, terms and your ERP, then agree what goes online first.
-
02. Pricing & data mapping
Deciding which system owns what.
We map companies, locations, catalogues, SKUs and stock to your ERP fields and agree sync timing and direction.
-
03. Build, configure & integrate
Setting up Shopify B2B properly.
We configure Shopify B2B, build quick order and portal features, and connect the ERP with full test data.
-
04. Pilot with real buyers
Testing with the people who order.
A small group of trusted accounts places real orders, and we fix what they find before wider rollout.
-
05. Rollout & ongoing support
Moving every account across.
We invite accounts in batches, train your sales team and keep improving through Shopify managed support.
A Shopify B2B stack that talks to the systems you already run.
Shopify B2B handles accounts, pricing and checkout. Your ERP stays the source of truth for stock and finance. We connect the two with proven connectors or custom apps, depending on your data.

SHOPIFY B2B FAQS
Shopify B2B development questions, answered.
Still unsure? Write to us at hi@bristm.com and a Shopify expert will reply.
We build the storefront and the AI layer together, as one system - not as two separate engagements handed off between teams.
Shopify B2B development is setting up and extending Shopify's native B2B features so business buyers can order online. BRISTM configures company accounts, catalogues with customer-specific prices, quantity rules and payment terms, then builds quick order forms, buyer portals and ERP integrations around how your sales team already works.
No longer for the basics. Since April 2026, Shopify's Basic, Grow and Advanced plans include company profiles, payment terms, volume pricing and up to three B2B catalogues. Shopify Plus is still needed for unlimited catalogues, assigning catalogues directly to companies and locations, deposits and partial payments. We check which plan your pricing model needs.
A premium Shopify theme is faster and cheaper for new or smaller stores. Custom Shopify development is better when your brand, catalogue or buying journey needs features a theme can't handle. We often start from a theme and customise only where it pays off.
Shopify Plus suits high-volume brands that need checkout customisation, Shopify B2B, multiple storefronts or advanced automation. Many growing brands do well on standard Shopify plans first. We recommend the plan that fits your revenue, operations and roadmap.
Yes. Shopify B2B supports payment terms such as net 30, net 60 or a fixed due date, set per company location. Buyers place orders without paying at checkout, and Shopify tracks the due date. Vaulted cards and ACH (US only) let buyers pay later from their account, and your team can send reminders.
We connect Shopify to ERPs such as NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, SAP Business One, Acumatica and Odoo. Most projects sync products, stock, customer-specific prices, companies and orders. We use a proven connector where one fits, and build a custom app on the Shopify Admin API where your data or rules need it.
Yes. Shopify B2B checkout accepts purchase order numbers, and orders can be set to go to draft for review before they are confirmed. We also build reorder from past orders, CSV upload for large baskets and order approval rules, so buyers and your sales team work from the same order history.
The B2B & wholesale ecommerce page covers wholesale selling as a business model and what wholesalers in each sector need. This page covers the build: the development work to set up Shopify B2B, custom portals, pricing logic and ERP integration. Most distributors read both, then talk to us about scope.
